Double 99 ft. Top Cat – Ripgroove 25th Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that speed garage banger Ripgroove is 25. The classic club cut, produced by Omar Adimora and Tim Deluxe, earned ‘sound of the summer status’ upon its original release in 1997, and remains worthy of that title today, given how fresh it still sounds. To celebrate turning a quarter of a century old, the single is reissued as a 2 X 12” gatefold package. Alongside a rerecording of the original (featuring a 16-piece string section) are remixes from Bristol-based DJ/producer and Animated Audio boss Daffy and Scottish DJ of the moment Ewan McVicar. It’s Fixate’s jungle reimagining, supported by the likes of Sherelle, Annie Mac and Four Tet, that’s the pick of the bunch though.

Fatherhood - Mural EP

Michael Magnan and Physical Therapy’s collaborative project Fatherhood returns to Hannah Holland’s Batty Bass imprint for a 3-track outing that blends deep, soulful house and jungle to stunning effect (Mural was made for a 6am sunrise set). Octo Octa is on remix duties, proving once again that she is one of the best producers in the game. Her blissed out take on the title track, with its trippy bassline, sublime pads and unrelenting call of ‘don’t stop’ take you on a journey and show that sometimes, just sometimes, the remix can be better than the original.

Melleefresh / DJ Gender Fluid  - I Want You

Wet Trax mainstay DJ Gender Fluid joins forces with Play Trax’s boss Melleefresh for a speedy, sexy EP that has ‘club bangers’ written all over it. Combining X-rated vocals with 150bpm hard house it a hugely fun, catchy and carefree EP that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I Want You is just begs to be screamed along to during a closing set at (one of Leeds’ best and very queer nights) Drip.

Spencer Parker - Change Yo Beat

Parker’s first single on his own WORKTHEM imprint sees him channel Kevin Aviance/Vasquez-era NYC house so much so that it was released back in the day Change Yo Beat would certainly be soundtracking the city’s ballrooms. On the B side comes a remix from Panorama bar resident Ryan Elliott, who gives the track the Berghain spin, with a dark and unrelenting techno chug.

Sully – Zero Sum

Sully has a surgeon-like precision when it comes to slicing up breakbeats, no more so than on jungle classic Zero Sum. All clattering breaks and eerie atmospherics, it’s easy to see why he’s one of the most highly revered producers in the genre. On the flipside, veteran jungle duo Dem 2 Ruff provide a bass-bin ratting refix deserved of their ‘ruff’ moniker.

Dem 2 Ruff – Nice Tune

Another DJ leading the jungle resurgence, Tim Reaper, is in high demand when it comes to remixes, having worked his magic on tracks by the likes of Special Request, Demuja and Aluna. Here, on this vinyl-only release, he proves once again why he’s one of the biggest names in new school jungle with a ferocious take on Dem 2 Ruff’s classic Nice Tune. The legendary duo also offer up a VIP mix of their own as well as a previously unreleased heater on the B side. An essential for both old and new school heads.

Sandy B – Make The World Go Round

Sandy B’s vocal house classic is given the reissue treatment with two new remixes from US production duo Deep Dish. As euphoric and uplifting as you’d expect from a Champion release, Make The World Go Round set dancefloors alight back in 1996 and this stomping update looks set to do the same.

Vin Sol & Matrixxman – Backside & Freaker

Club Lonely head honcho Vin Sol returns to his own imprint for Backside, a jacking slice of ghetto house complete with a squelchy acid line and those oft sampled lyrics ‘hit it from the back’. Joining him on this release is Berlin’s Matrixxman with pulsing house cut Freaker. Dancefloor heat!

Robin S – Show Me Love

A track that needs no introduction. One of the greatest dance anthems of all-time Show Me Love is reissued as part of Champion’s limited edition 12” series. Instantly recognisable, it can get entire dancefloors moving within five seconds of hearing that iconic melody. First released in 1993, it is just as vital today, with Craig David, Charlie XCX and Beyonce all sampling the track in 2022 alone but nothing stands up to the original. Timeless.

Vin Sol – Club Lonely Power Tools Vol. 1

For his debut release on Club Lonely, label boss Vin Sol offers up four Chicago-flavoured club tools. Raw and striped back, these tracks maintain maximum energy without compromising on groove. Reminiscent of early 80s jack tracks, Vin Sol proves that you don’t need more than an 808 to make people dance.

Roza Terenzi – Weakest Link

On her debut for Voyage, DJ, producer, and founder of the Step Ball Chain imprint, Roza Terenzi, delivers three rhythmic house workouts. Experimental yet melodic and danceable, her unique style of production has made her a name to buy on sight. Lilli’s Lounge is the pick here, with its atmospheric pads, cosmic bleeps and a warehouse ready bassline channelling old school rave with an extra-terrestrial twist.

Shauna

Leeds based DJ/Producer and member of SISU collective, Shauna, is an upcoming name on everyone’s radar; with an eclectic play style which encompass everything from house, techno and breaks, to club and footwork, and her own productions leaning towards techno and breaks.  Releases out with Queer House Party, Gimme A Break Records, Come Play With Me, Rhythm Lab and Interpolate Records & our very own Released label to name a few.
