Hip-Hop

Tony still runs Fresh Jive, a Hip Hop culture event that made a big impact on Leeds.   Ideally (as it sells out quickly) our vinyl offering will cover the 80s, early Def Jam, Whodini, Kurtis Blow and Sugarhill through to Profile, Tuff City and releases by Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shante, BDP, Eric B and Rakim, Run DMC, LL Cool J.  We will cover the 90s, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang, Common, Mos Def, labels such as Rawkus, Wrecked and Tommy Boy.  We will also cover the UK Hip hop sound from the 80s which was fierce at the time.  (Music of Life  - Derek B, MC Duke), Overlord X, The Cookie Crew and MC Buzz B.  And we'll follow the UK sound into the 90s with Braintax, Lewis Parker, Taskforce and the more soulful side with Rae and Christian.  After the 90s we'll pick the best of what we can find and throw it up.  Look out for our old school breakbeat selection also.   Our local Leeds selection will always cover WY Hip Hop label headed up by ExP, not much Leeds Hip Hop makes it to vinyl but we'll keep our eyes out.
