Groove Corporation – Dub Call & Reprise

The Lost Record is a blog that shines a light on records that never made the move to digital (notably Spotify or Apple).  At best these records have a Youtube fan upload.

From 1992 I spent 3 years at university in Leicester which had a big influence on me musically.  Places like the Mud Club were playing funk, soul, dub and disco and there were also a large number of record shops and market stalls I trawled looking to broaden my musical tastes.

Leftfield, who were releasing tracks heavily influenced by the spacey, echoey sounds of dub from the likes of King Tubby and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, so an EP called ‘Summer of Dub’ was always going to spark my interest.

Groove Corporation were formed when Billie Ray Martin left Electrotribe 101 to pursue a solo career, most people into house music in the early 90s will remember their chilled “Talking with Myself”.   The Groove Corporation moniker had already been used for production work and some remixes.

The Summer of Dub is a lost gem, Dub Call is a brilliant groove with a nice dubby house feel, perfect for a chilled summer afternoon for a sunset mix.  The album “Co-Operation that followed is also definitely worth picking up.

Groove Corporation continued as G. Corp releasing a follow album in 2013, in between they set up the Cake label with Original Rockers (Who later became Rockers Hi-Fi) releasing the classic Push Push.

Is this a Lost Record, yes it is!

The Lost Record is the endless search for vinyl tracks not available (at time of publish) on iTunes/Apple Music or Spotify.
